(HELP ?) Circles provide narratives on Training, Explanations, and Hints. These can be related to the overall screen, or to specific items on the screen.



This "Help" narrative is for the "CHILD CHECK-IN" Screen or Display Panel.



CheckinLink screens are comprised of five sections:



- Product Bar (wide horizontal bar across the top of the MemberLink screen)



- Operations Bar (narrow horizontal bar immediately under the Product Bar)



CheckinLink has the following Tabs on the Operations Bar: "View/Edit" Tab; "Registration" Tab; "Check-In" Tab; "Check-In Queue" Tab; "Check-Out" Tab; "Messaging" Tab; "Options" Tab; and "Logout" Tab.



- Information Bar (narrow horizontal bar immediately under the Operations Bar)



- Navigation Panel (vertical column area under the Information Bar on left side of screen)



- Display Panel (remainder of the screen, under the Information Bar and to the right of the Navigation Panel, and shows information in ROW/COLUMN Forms, DATA Forms, etc.)



Introduction To Child Check-In



Child Check-In can be performed in the following ways:



- In the CheckinLink Administrator module by a CheckinLink Admin

- By a Parent or Guardian from a church computer station

- By a Parent or Guardian using a hand-held mobile device such as a phone or tablet using your church's Phone App.



If you are in the CheckinLink Admin module, this is the "CHILD CHECK-IN" Display Panel. You came here by clicking the >Operations Bar "CHECK-IN" Tab>.



If you are using a church computer station or a mobile device, this is the "CHILD CHECK-IN" Screen. You came here from a church Check-In Station or from your tablet or phone Mobile App.



** Note 1: The Display Panel piece of the screen in the CheckinLink Admin module looks virtually the same as the screen if you are using a Mobile App. From this point forward in the "Help" narrative, we will refer to both of them as the "CHILD CHECK-IN" Display Panel since the panel and the screen are basically the same.



This is the screen where a CheckinLink Admin or a Parent or a Guardian performs the Check-In Process for one of more Children.



This screen supports either a "IMMEDIATE CHILD CHECK-IN" or a "VISITOR CHILD CHECK-IN".



** Note 2: The "Visitor Child Check-In" option will only appear if Visitor Check-In is enabled in the CheckinLink Configuration File. If the Visitor Check-In option is turned off, this screen will only offer the "Immediate Child Check-In" process.



Section 1: Immediate Child Check-In



The "immediate" Check-In is referred to as "immediate" because the other type of Check-In is a twofold process and the Check-In is not finalized until both processed have been completed.



There are three options available to Admin, Parents or Guardians for checking in a Child immediately. You can check them in with the last four digits of the Parent phone number; the entire Parent phone number, or by keying in the first few letters of the Child name "” either first name or last name.



** Note 3: Use either the Parent phone number or the Child name. The Child phone number will not work.



Option 1 "” By Last 4 Digits of Parent Phone Number:



You can use the Phone Number entry box to enter the last four digits of the Parent or Guardian phone number. Then click on the "FIND CHILDREN" Button under the Phone Number entry box.



After clicking the "FIND CHILDREN" Button, a picklist of matching choices (Registered Children paired with that Parent) will be displayed. Choose the appropriate Child Name to select the Child for Check-In. Selecting a Child may be by clicking the associated Checkbox, then clicking the "FIND CHILDREN" Button. If there is not a Checkbox, the name itself will be a hyperlink you can click on directly.



** Note 4: The picklist of matching choices will only show you Children that are "registered". That means although the Child may exist in MemberLink, if that Child has not yet been linked in CheckinLink with a Parent or Guardian, the Child is "unregistered" and cannot be Checked-In. In order to select that Child for Check-In, you will first have to do the Child Registration process and associate the Child with a Parent or Guardian. Alternatively, an unregistered Child could be Checked-In through the Visitor Check-In process.



Option 2 "” By Complete Parent Phone Number:



You can use the Phone Number entry box to enter the complete phone number of a Parent or Guardian to find the Child you are Checking-In. Then click on the "FIND CHILDREN" Button.



After clicking the "FIND CHILDREN" Button, a picklist of matching choices (Registered Children paired with that Parent) will be displayed. Choose the appropriate Child Name to select the Child for Check-In. Selecting a Child may be by clicking the associated Checkbox, then clicking the "FIND CHILDREN" Button. If there is not a Checkbox, the name itself will be a hyperlink you can click on directly.



** Note 5: The picklist of matching choices will only show you Children that are "registered". That means although the Child may exist in MemberLink, if that Child has not yet been linked in CheckinLink with a Parent or Guardian, the Child is "unregistered" and cannot be Checked-In. Option 3 "” By Child Name:



You can use the Child Name entry box to enter a partial name or complete name of the Child you are checking in. Then click on the "FIND CHILDREN" Button located under the Child Name entry box.



After clicking the "FIND CHILDREN" Button, a picklist of matching choices (Registered Children paired with that Parent) will be displayed. Choose the appropriate Child Name to select the Child for Check-In. Selecting a Child may be by clicking the associated Checkbox, then clicking the "FIND CHILDREN" Button. If there is not a Checkbox, the name itself will be a hyperlink you can click on directly.

Section 2: Visitor Child Check-In



If you permit Visitors to Check-In their Child, the process is simple. In the Visitor Name entry box, they enter the Child's first and last name. Then they click the "VISITOR CHECK-IN" Button. Doing so will take them to another screen where they can enter some basic information about the Parent, contact phone numbers, etc., and then proceed with the Check-In Process.
