Email - Using the Email vs Texting Toggle Button

You found the (HELP ?) Circle narrative for"Switch to Text Messaging or Switch to Emailing" by clicking the (COMPREHENSIVE HELP ?) Circle on the "EMAIL & TEXTING" Screen or any of the other screens related to "Email & Texting" that have this (COMPREHENSIVE HELP ?) Circle.

Before proceeding, please be sure you have previously clicked the (HELP ?) Circle that leads to the narrative on "Overview and Basics: Using the Email & Texting Function". Being familiar with the general information about the "EMAIL & TEXTING" Screen may be helpful to you.

The following information relates specifically to the workings of the "WHO GETS THIS EMAIL?" Window and instructions for switching between sending emails and sending text messages.

Using the Toggle Button to Switch between Email and Texting:

You can build a distribution list of recipients, and then indicate if the message will be an email message or a texting message.

Above the "WHO GETS THIS EMAIL?" Window, at the top of the screen, there is a toggle button that lets you toggle back and forth between sending an email message and sending a texting message. When you come to this screen, the default label for that button will be the [SWITCH TO TEXT MESSAGING] Toggle Button. The system is set to send an email message, and you have to click that toggle button if you want to switch to texting.

If you click the toggle button, the recipients will be ready to receive a texting message. Also, the toggle button will change to a [SWITCH TO EMAILING] Toggle Button.

You can send the same message either via email or via texting without retyping it, just by sending it and then toggling over to the other method and sending it again.

** Note: If a recipient does not have an email address, they will not appear in the "WHO GETS THIS EMAIL?" Window. Likewise, if a recipient does not participate in texting, they will not appear in the window either. You may have selected them to receive the message, but it can only be delivered if they have a valid email address or, for texting to them, a valid cell carrier and cell phone number.
